The course exposes students to the building contracts and procedures including dispute resolution methods in construction contracts. The various laws that affect building contracts such as laws of Agency, Tort and Contract are examined. A detailed study of the nature and characteristics of building contracts is undertaken. This includes types of building contracts, building contracts and tender procedures, and a detailed examination of the Standard Form of Building Contracts. Arbitration and its role in resolving construction contract disputes and arbitration procedures are comprehensively examined. The roles of the architect in building contracts and the arbitration process are similarly examined.
